Schools Bible Quiz

The qualifying rounds of the Schools Bible Quiz took place in the church on Thursday 1st December. This year we had 8 primary schools competing - Chapelhall, Clarkston, Dunrobin, Glengowan, Greengairs, Plains, St. Davids and Victoria. As usual the competition was intense with 4 teams competing in each of the 2 sessions. At the end of the competition the following teams made it through to the final in March next year:- Clarkston - 83 points, Glengowan - 75 points, Plains - 71 points, Victoria - 58 points. After each session the kids went next door to the community centre for some much needed refreshment and a time of fun with Rod Cox.

Pastoral Assistant

In November 2011 the church appointed Rod Cox as Pastoral Assistant. Rod was saved in March 1991 in a Baptist church in Dedridge Livingston and after facing backruptcy he dedicated himself to following his Lord and Saviour.  That led him to The Bible Centre at Inchinnan where he was involved in youth work for 13 years.  He then went to Cornhill Scotland to do a course in expository preaching which he completed in June 2011. He is married to Alison and has two grown up children, one who lives in Austria and the other in Edinburgh.

The Big Day Out 2011

Perhaps the sun didn’t quite shine as it did the day before, but just over 100 had a great day out at Ayr on Saturday 4th May none the less. The somewhat chilly afternoon did nothing to cool the enthusiasm of all who took part in the sports and games which took place after a visit to the shops and an excellent tea at Holy Trinity Church hall. It was great to see a good number from the Baby & Toddler Group sharing the day with us. For more photos please go to Galleries/Photo Galleries

Plains Primary Easter Assembly

On Thursday 21st April Plains Primary School held its Easter Assembly in the church. It was great to see all the pupils, teachers, parents and friends gather for a really good time. Also with us were Brian Lowrie and the team from 'MAD in Schools', who had taught the kids some puppetry which had the audience in stitches. There were a number of readings from pupils and songs from the choir, tambourines and recorders - all of which made it a great assembly, with a short Easter message from Pastor Alan McKnight involving participation from some of the pupils. And of course it wouldn't have been complete without Easter creme eggs, which were given to children and teachers as they left the church. Well done everybody!

Church Anniversary

Over the weekend 12th-13th March the church celebrated its 90th anniversary. It was a great weekend with guest speaker Jim Graham of Goldhill Baptist Church, Chalfont St. Peter - a native of the Airdrie area himself! Our praise on Saturday and Sunday evenings was led by the group 'Simply Worship' from Glasgow, whose ministry was also a real blessing. While we thank God for the many blessings of past years, we look forward to the blessings and challenges which lie ahead.
