Sundays @ PEC
our services
We have a morning service at 11:15am and an evening service at 6:30pm.
Our services are between one and one and a quarter hours long.
service style
We run two different styles of service on a Sunday at Plains Evangelical.
One service is a more traditional style. Our Pastor leads the service, whilst our organist accompanies our singing, where the songs are usually taken from Mission Praise (1-1021). The Pastor will preach before we share in The Lord's Supper together.
The other service is slightly more contemporary. A member of the church will lead, whist the singing is accompanied by our worship band, where the songs are more modern. The Pastor will then preach before our worship band closes the service.
These services alternate between the morning and evening each week.
From time to time, we may have a guest preacher.
Whilst our morning and evening services are of different styles and format, one thing is consistent at both services. Our Pastor (or visiting speaker) will preach from The Bible for 30 to 40 minutes. We believe in the authority of The Bible as God's Word for us today. With that in mind, our preaching will usually go through a book, or theme, examining the text, what it meant for its original readers and what it means for us today.
We uplift an offering at the morning service only, but there is a plate at the back in the evening service. This is provided for our members and regular attenders. If you are a visitor, we are glad to have you. There is no need to feel obliged to give. We want to serve you.
children
Our Sunday School is during the morning service. This is for Primaries 1-7 (Age 5-12). The children will leave the service after the second song.
Sunday School is usually held in the community centre next door to the church.
All our teachers are Disclosure Scotland screened. (For more information, please speak to Hazel Conaghan, our Child Protection officer).
There is a crèche room available on request. We intend to run an audio feed from the main service for you to continue to listen in.
afterwards
We encourage you to stay behind after the morning service for refreshments and a chat.
